Over the last week, I've been having trouble connecting 3 PC's to the internet simultaneously. One or two will lose signal and connect to the unsecured connections of my neighbors. I checked everything - modem, router, access point, reinstalled drivers, etc,... and nothing seemed to work. I finally called my ISP's tech support this morning and explained the situation. The tech at the other end of the line said they have no issues and problem is on me and my router or PCs. He talked to me with a tone that somehow says, 'what are you calling me for?'

So in a calm and collective response (which I am not usually known for), I told the tech, 'calm down, I was just making sure that the problem is not on your side, so I am not wasting my time fixing stuff here.' He calmed down and actually called me by my first name which he pronounced right and I appreciated it, and I said 'bye'.

30 minutes later, without me doing anything, my connections somehow went back to normal... hmmm :-k . Did my phone call actually alerted them to something and they found something wrong and fixed it? Maybe, maybe not. But I am not really expecting a phone call telling me, "Sir, you're not an idiot. Actually, there's something wrong here."

Do you have any interesting experiences with tech support?
